First Harvest Credit Union Shreds Over 7 Tons of Paper During Third Annual Free Community Shredder Event

First Harvest Credit Union recently hosted its third annual free Community Shredder Event at its Deptford Corporate Center to offer a secure method for disposing of documents. Approximately 330 community members attended the event, shredding a combined total of over 7 tons of paper. This event helped to keep roughly 14,000 pounds of paper waste out of local landfills.

First Harvest hosts various give-back programs throughout the year to reinvest in the Southern New Jersey community. In addition to the annual shredder event, other initiatives include supporting breast cancer awareness efforts, fundraising for local non-profit organizations, and co-sponsoring the New Jersey Credit Unions Food Cooperative to help address the growing rate of food insecurity across the state.

First Harvest is also committed to helping members stay protected from the growing threat of fraud and scams. Through its Scam-Free Summer campaign, members had the opportunity to strengthen their fraud-fighting knowledge with free scam and fraud prevention coursework through MoneyEDU, along with a giveaway designed to encourage financial education. First Harvest offers a robust online security resource library featuring blogs on topics such as identity theft, common scam tactics, the scammer's playbook, digital footprints, and other emerging fraud trends. Combined with educational content shared across social media and free online learning programs through MoneyEDU, these resources empower members with the knowledge and tools needed to safeguard their personal information and financial well-being.
