Account Safety & Security
Be cautious of scam attempts from individuals claiming to be employees of legitimate companies, including First Harvest, who may try to obtain your account information. In some cases, scammers are using phone number and website spoofing, which makes the call, text, or website appear to come from a legitimate instituation even though it is not.
As a reminder, First Harvest will never ask you to provide any online banking passwords or sensitive debit card information such as your card number, CVV (Card Verification Value) code, or PIN (Personal Identification Number). If you suspect your account or card information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
Common tricks include:
- Imitating a website, known as spoofing. Always double check the spelling of website addresses to ensure you’re visiting the correct website before entering personal financial login information.
- Spoofing a caller ID of trusted organizations. If a caller claims to represent a specific organization or government agency, hang up and contact that entity directly using a phone number from their official website or your account statement.
- Threats of arrests, lawsuits, account closures, or similar dire consequences. Official agencies do not operate this way and will usually contact you by official mail first.
- Create a sense of urgency or pretend to be a close relative or loved one to pressure you into making decisions. They might say you need to confirm your identity, update your information, or claim a prize quickly to obtain your personal information.
Don’t Forget: Keep your contact information at First Harvest Credit Union up to date so we can reach you when a suspicious activity occurs on your debit card.
