First Harvest Credit Union Supports First Responders & Breast Cancer Awareness Efforts for CrossState's CU Kind Initiative

First Harvest participated in the CrossState Credit Union Association’s CU Kind initiative through breast cancer awareness efforts and first responder appreciation deliveries. This initiative reflects the shared credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”  First Harvest employees hosted a month-long Pink Ribbon Program benefiting the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and made a dozen first responder appreciation lunch deliveries throughout the credit union’s footprint.

To commemorate its 85th anniversary, First Harvest has committed to delivering more than 85 Acts of Kindness to its 48,000+ members across the Southern New Jersey communities it proudly serves. In alignment with National First Responders Day on October 28, First Harvest made a dozen pizza lunch deliveries throughout the month to police departments and fire stations across the six counties it serves. These deliveries were a small gesture of gratitude for the unwavering dedication and courage shown by local first responders every day.

To date, First Harvest has completed 70 acts of kindness, bringing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” to life through employee volunteer events, new member giveback programs, and strengthened community partnerships.

Additionally, in October, First Harvest’s Charitable Journey Program is hosting its annual Pink Ribbon Program. Employees and members can make a $1 donation to purchase a pink ribbon, which may include a personal message and is displayed in First Harvest branch locations. First Harvest will match all employee and member donations, and 100% of the proceeds will directly support local breast cancer research and patients through the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

First Harvest employees also took part in two “Pink-Out” dress-down days throughout the month to demonstrate their support for the cause. Since inception, the Charitable Journey Program has donated over $62,000 to local charities and organizations.

“Credit unions are in the people business, dedicated to serving both their members and the communities of which they are a part,” said First Harvest President & CEO, Mike Dinneen. “The impact that our team makes goes beyond financial wellbeing. Through our 85 Acts of Kindness initiative, and the programs hosted by our Charitable Journey Program, we’re able to reinvest in our communities and support the wellbeing and prosperity of our Southern New Jersey neighbors.

We’re deeply grateful for the dedication and service shown daily by our local first responders and our partners at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, who work tirelessly to protect and uplift our communities. We are also incredibly thankful to the First Harvest team for their commitment to our social mission and their passion for supporting the communities we serve.”
