Charitable Journey Raised $1,100 For Breast Cancer Patients

During the month of October, our Charitable Journey program raised $1,100 to help Breast Cancer patients. Credit union members and staff where encouraged to make donations and leave special messages on pink ribbons that were then displayed at First Harvest branches, and on its digital screens, for everyone to read. “Don’t wait for something to directly impact you before you get involved – Breast Cancer Awareness leads to early detection and can save lives, which is why Charitable Journey supports the cause.” said Camille Gadsden, one of the original founding members of the Charitable Journey program.

Funds where donated to the Cooper Foundation, with proceeds benefiting the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.  “We are grateful for our partnership with First Harvest and their annual Pink Ribbon tradition that raises funds for breast cancer patients and research at MD Anderson at Cooper,” said Philip A. Norcross, Esq., Chairman of The Cooper Foundation. “Corporate and community partnerships are a pivotal part of the Cooper Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Every gift goes towards helping Cooper provide life-saving research and innovative treatments that can’t be found elsewhere in the region and allows us to bring the absolute best healthcare to the communities we serve in South Jersey and beyond.”

"Every day at MD Anderson at Cooper, we witness firsthand the transformative power of generosity in the fight against breast cancer. Each donation brings us closer to better treatment methods and allows us to provide additional support to our patients during their treatment journey. Every time we come together to support the cause, it also raises much-needed awareness about breast cancer detection and the importance of regular breast cancer screenings.” said Generosa Grana, MD, FACP, Director of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

The Charitable Journey program is an employee-run charity that was established in 2015 by a volunteered group of First Harvest employees who have a genuine passion for serving the community. The committee members take the time out of their busy work schedules to facilitate various donation collection efforts among all employees throughout the year. “Our journeys take us to wonderful places and touch the hearts of many people.” is the Charitable Journey program motto. Since its inception, First Harvest and its employees have donated over $48,000 to charities and organizations that are near and dear to their hearts.
